For more than two decades, the UAS Secondary Master of Arts in Teaching program has provided pathways for Alaskans from many walks of life to become certified Alaskan teachers. Here, former and current MAT students tell their stories.
George Skraba Riesling completed the MAT program in May of 2015. He is currently teaching Math at Seward High School.
Colleen Carrol is currently student teaching at Blatchley Middle School in Sitka. She will complete the program this May.
Michelle Snyder is currently student teaching in Dillingham. She teaches U.S. History, Creative Writing and Yup’ik Language.
Crystal Aldridge teaches Math and facilitates student government in St. Mary’s.
